10-09-19 FUMC Update

I just LOVE fall! I love the change of season and the cooler weather. I love how the pulse of the church changes and people are present and engaged. And I’m excited about looking ahead to an additional ministry we’ll be focusing on in the future. A ministry to our seniors! This should come as no surprise when you look around and see that the majority of our congregation and the new people who are coming are retired, but it MAY surprise you to know that there are TWICE as many SENIOR adults within a 15-mile radius of Winnsboro as there are children 14 years and younger!

What might this new ministry look like? Our Church Council has been thinking about our mission which is to “Go, and make disciples for Jesus Christ …” and discussing how we can meet more people who do not have a relationship with Christ, and so we want to dream about refiring the retirement community!

Senior Adult Ministry Kickoff ~ Friday, October 25 (Red Raiders Bye Week), 5 – 7 p.m. at Ted & Shiela Haynes Home ~ Please join us to brainstorm how we can connect socially and spiritually with this group of people in our community who have been disconnected or never connected to a church family. RSVP to Shiela at 972-322-9694 (and to get the gate code).

Let’s Go See Our Home Town Favorites Together ~ Adler & Hearne at the Winnsboro Center for the Arts, Saturday, November 2, 7:30 p.m. We will all meet somewhere in town for an early dinner and then go to the show ($17 general, $25 reserved). We have 12 tickets reserved so please RSVP to this email if you want to join me! The Texas Commission on the Arts once again accepted Adler & Hearne onto the Texas Touring Roster as official Texas Touring Artists, this time for the 2019-2020 touring season. It’s a rigorous application process, and they have been on the roster since 2014.
