3-6-23 FUMC Updates … new beginnings

This past Saturday, lay leaders and clergy from the North Texas Conference gathered together in worship before doing the difficult business of the church: approving the disaffiliation of 41 churches from the United Methodist denomination. Please listen to the Bishop’s remarks HERE.

A letter from our Conference said:

“While it was a day of farewells to longtime friends and colleagues, it was also a day marked by meaningful worship. The gathering allowed NTC members to come together one last time and send off disaffiliating churches with the conference’s blessings and prayers.

Following Saturday’s vote, more than 230 churches in the North Texas Conference remain undeterred from their mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Today, the NTC begins the work of healing. On March 12, we will embark on a four-week prayer vigil for “Hope in Joy.” You are invited to join us in this restorative work by registering for a 30-minute prayer shift

The conference will also continue to walk alongside members of disaffiliating churches wishing to remain United Methodists, providing opportunities for care and connection. The NTC Still United webpage houses the latest resources and details for upcoming events as we journey through this season together.”

As our season of Lent continues, I encourage everyone to sign up for a 30-minute prayer shift, once, once a week, or as often as you want!

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. 1 John 5:14–15

3/12, WORSHIP, 10:50 AM, Touching the Untouchables …Have you ever felt that people treated YOU like a leper? Overlooked or excluded you? Ostracized you? In the Gospel of Luke a leper, a nobody, cried out to God and implored Jesus, pleaded with Him saying: “Please, help me, Lord!” Jesus sees us as SOMEBODIES and He does hear our cries!

In Christ Alone,

Pastor Debbie
