5-24-21 FUMC Updates

This weekend is MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND and if you’re on the road, don’t forget to join us LIVE on Facebook from wherever you are! Or, as you can do ANY week, honor the Sabbath whenever you can during the week!  Michael Gunn will be joining us in worship this Sunday and you can bet we’ll be singing some patriotic favorites! This Sunday we’ll also be exploring how our spiritual gifts EMPOWER us to work together for God’s Kingdom on earth … take the SPIRITUAL GIFTS assessment HERE.

The Prayer Quilt Ministry SEW DAY, Wed. 5/26, 9 am – 3 pm … have you let Amy Moss know you’ll be here Wednesday? Come and (1) sew on your own project or (2) or get help to get started learning how to piece a quilt top and we will provide the fabric and teach you how!  We also have a cutting table and an ironing station, but you will need to bring your own sewing machine.  Beginners and seasoned “sewists” are all welcome and there will be coffee, donuts, and a light lunch provided.  If you would like to be a part of a similar group, but can’t meet on a weekday, contact Amy about the possibility of an evening get-together or a Saturday sew day.

FRIDAY NIGHT, MAY 28th, WISD HS GRADUATION, 6 – 8 pm … come hand out water bottles with us!  We especially want our kids to help and all you have to do is show up!!  Contact KEN RAGSDALE if you have questions.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY UPDATES:  Thanks to everyone who has/is taking the Ministry Safe Training to help with our children’s ministry activities this summer.  I especially want to thank Crystal & Joe Chandler and Rita and Joey Newton who are organizing the Parents’ Night Out events this summer. (Fridays, June 4, July 9, and August 6).  Today, every child in K-6th grade at WISD will be receiving an invitation to join us, and we’ll have an ad in The Winnsboro News on Wednesday. AND DON’T FORGET TO SHARE OUR SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS!

There are lots of ways you can help … let me know where YOU might want to plug in!

Children’s Church on non-communion Sunday mornings at 10:45 am:  one Sunday a month or more!

___I could be a “helper”! If the lesson is planned I’ll be the 2nd set of eyes and hands for the teacher. *

___I could take a small group of children (grades 2-4 or 4-5-6) and expand on their lesson in the room across the hall. *

___I could help pre-plan a craft for a specific age group.

Parents’ Night Out: June 4, July 9, and August 6, 6-9 pm: one event or all 3!

___I could sit at the registration table as kids arrive*

___I could sit at the dismissal table as parents sign out their kids*

___I could find the right short movie for kids to watch (maybe by age group?)

___I could shop for the dinner supplies.

___I could sit/watch a movie with the kids as they settle down at the end of the night*

___I could help fix/serve dinner (something simple like hot dogs, chips, cookies, and popcorn!) *

___I could help coordinate/supervise a craft for a specific age group*

___I could do a science experiment (Don’t worry, we have great resources if you need them!) *

___I could oversee the bounce house*

___ I could donate to cover some things not planned for in our budget.

___ * I’ll take the Ministry Safe Awareness Training so I can do something … send me the link!

WE NEED YOUR OLD SHIRTS: the 1st craft we’ll be making is SLIME so we’re collecting old shirts to use for any messy craft or science experiments!

WE’RE ACTIVELY LOOKING FOR A CHILDREN’S LEADER: this 20 hour/week position is going to be very important to the future of our church!  See the job description on our WEBSITE and send anyone you know who loves Jesus, loves kids, is creative and energetic and EXCITED about possibilities there for details!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT FELLOWSHIP DINNER, June 6, 6 pm … let’s kick-off summer together with a great meal and time to visit! Mark your calendar!

Be a blessing!
Pastor Debbie
